Grade a fire alarm system
What does grade a fire alarm system have?

Grade A Fire Alarm System typically includes smoke detectors, heat detectors, manual call points, a central control panel, and sounders. These components work together to quickly detect fires and alert occupants. They’re commonly used in commercial properties but can also be installed in homes for enhanced safety.

Grade D fire alarm system
What does a grade D fire alarm system have?

A Grade D fire alarm system typically consists of interconnected smoke or heat alarms and is commonly installed in many domestic properties. It’s crucial to conduct a full test of the fire alarm system every six months, preferably by a competent individual. This test should adhere to the guidelines outlined in BS5839 part 1 section 6. Once the test is successfully completed, it should be documented in the log book. Upon completion of the fire alarm testing, a fire alarm certificate should be issued.

The Tests
What are carried out and their results

During the testing phase, our team conducts comprehensive checks to ensure the effectiveness of your fire alarm system. This includes rigorous functionality testing of all smoke and heat detectors, as well as assessments of bells and sounders to confirm their ability to provide sufficient sound levels across all areas.

Upon completion of the testing process, our clients receive comprehensive documentation detailing the results and findings. This includes an Asset Register, providing an inventory of all items tested and their respective locations, ensuring transparency and accountability. The Test Data offers a comprehensive overview of the test results for all luminaires, enabling a clear understanding of the system’s performance. Detailed instructions are provided regarding interim testing requirements and methods to achieve them, ensuring ongoing compliance and safety. Additionally, the Log Book serves as a valuable tool for recording all interim routine tests and any necessary remedial actions taken, facilitating effective maintenance and management of the fire alarm system over time.
