By placing an order with Moffat Engineering Services, you are accepting our terms and conditions. Moffat Engineering is a trading name of Moffat Engineering Services Electrical LTD. Your existing statutory rights are not affected by these conditions. Terms & Conditions updated June 2018. These Terms and Conditions govern your relationship with Moffat Engineering, which is a trading name of Moffat Engineering Services Electrical LTD (referred to as “we” or “us”). Please read these terms carefully as they affect your rights and liabilities under the law. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not place an order or service with us. All Orders for Services accepted by us will be subject to the following Terms, which will form part of and will govern the contract of service. No variation of these Terms will be accepted unless agreed in writing by an authorized person of Moffat Engineering Services Electrical LTD. We will not accept the inclusion of any alternative Terms by customers which conflict with, alter, or add to our Terms and Conditions
Definitions
- Contract: meaning any contract between us and a customer for a set of services booked or an order placed for our services.
- Services: meaning the service we provide to our customer.
- Working day and Hours: meaning Monday to Saturday, excluding Bank and Public Holidays, from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm.
- Next day: meaning if you place an order for a service, your work certificate will be produced on the next working day after the completion of the work.
- Fixed Fee: meaning an agreed price given including VAT.
Services and Orders
- When an Order or a Service is placed by a customer, this will be regarded as an offer by the customer to purchase a Service subject to our Terms. We shall not be obliged to accept your offer at our discretion.
- Customers will receive Order Acknowledgement from us on receipt of an Order. This is not an order confirmation or order acceptance by us.
- We only accept orders and offers and create a Contract with you by sending you a Confirmation order once we have confirmed the availability of the Service you have requested.
- Any Order Confirmation will be binding by our terms on you unless there is an inadvertent discrepancy between the Service that you ordered and those detailed in the Order Confirmation. In such circumstances, we advise customers to notify us as soon as they become aware of any such discrepancy.
- When you place an Order for our services, you are undertaking to us that:
- (i) All details you provide to us for the purpose of purchasing the Services are correct, and
- (ii) That the credit or debit card use for a purchase from us is your own card, that you are authorized to use it, and that there are sufficient funds or credit facilities to cover the cost of any services you order from us.
Prices and Payments
- We are a VAT registered business; hence, all purchases are VAT inclusive.
- All services are invoiced at the order price inclusive of VAT at the time of your order.
- We reserve the right to vary our prices from time to time.
- We will only supply goods or services to you when payment has been received in full, unless there has been prior agreement.
- Moffat Engineering reserves the right to book or schedule services or an inspection after payment has been received in full for the said service required by all customers. If not, the booking could be set as “provisional” and can be cancelled or rescheduled at any later date or time until payment is made in full before the booking slot can be confirmed. We accept all major credit cards and debit cards.
Call Out and Hourly Rates and Missed Appointments
- We charge a call-out fee of £35 plus VAT for our EPC, Gas and Pat Test engineers who will visit and can’t access the property to undertake their service, for electrical engineers, the cost is £60 If separate engineer must visit your property, a call-out fee will apply per engineer.
- If a fixed price cannot be given for a job, then we will charge an hourly rate of £80 plus VAT; this does not exclude any parts used.
- If an engineer is called, but you disagree and decide not to go ahead with the work, then the standard call-out charge fee will still apply and must be paid for on the day.
- Due to the severity of parking within the M25, it is the responsibility of all customers to ensure there is parking available for our engineers. Residential parking permits or bays must be provided if the property to be inspected is within a restricted parking zone; otherwise, a call-out fee will apply if the work cannot be done due to a lack of parking.
Allocation for Jobs
All our Gas, EPC, and Pat Test appointments are scheduled for 30 minutes. Electrical inspections are scheduled for 2 hours from Monday to Saturday for all inspection visits; your engineer may arrive within your two-hour time slot. Due to unforeseen circumstances beyond our engineers’ control, sometimes it may be necessary to reschedule a missed appointment. We will do this by contacting all customers as soon as we are aware of such a situation and reschedule all cancelled appointments as soon as possible at a convenient time for all customers.
Missed Appointments
Please note we have a strict 24-hour cancellation policy. If you wish to reschedule, please give us more than 24 hours’ notice. Appointments cancelled less than 24 hours before the agreed start time or missed entirely are subject to a half-hour labour charge of £35 plus VAT for Gas, EPC, and Pat Test appointments. For electrical engineers, the charge is £60 plus VAT. By placing your service order, you agree to these terms. Examples of such situations are below:
- Cannot gain access to property.
- Boiler is not working.
- No gas or electrical supply.
- No access to gas meter.
- Or for any reason the inspection cannot be carried out where the engineer is not at fault.
- This will incur a £35 plus VAT administrative charge per property, per engineer. Please note that all terms in this contract apply to any third party you instruct to be at premises on your behalf (e.g., if you have a tenant who will be giving us access to the property, the same terms apply).
Quotations
We offer on-demand a free quotation on-site or in writing for all electrical work, i.e., domestic, commercial, or light industrial. Moffat Engineering Services and the client. The client is identified as the name on the quotation. The quote or estimate is subject to revision if there are any changes to the nature or extent of the work. However, all quotes will not be amended except agreed with the customer. All quotes are valid for 28 days from the issue date.
Deposits
All major projects agreed upon with our customers will only start once the full payment has been received and held on the customer’s account. We accept all types of payments, by credit card, bank transfer, and other popular methods.
Termination of Contract
Moffat Engineering Services Electrical LTD reserves the right to terminate the contract at any time if a customer acts contrary to the agreed terms of the contract. Moffat Engineering Services Electrical Ltd will not tolerate aggressive behaviour, rude behaviours, racism, nationalism, sexism, homophobia, or ageism directed towards any of its staff or contractors.
